FOR THE PEOPLE

As you can tell from her positions below, my opponent and I disagree on the most important issues facing District 7. The taxpayers want a representative they can trust to allocate their monies in the most effective and efficient way possible, while ensuring accountability and minimal government interference.

Democrat Colleen Condon says,

  • "Planning needs coordination...an example are comprehensive transportation and land use plans that bump heads on some issues, like traffic solutions on rural Johns Island".
Charleston City Paper, October 9, 2008

Mark's response:

  • I want to represent District 7 and am far more concerned about issues affecting the citizens of West Ashley than any part of "rural Johns Island". Again, we need to work hand-in-hand with government agencies, not "bump heads" with each other! The people of West Ashley have raised me, and now it's time to give them the representation they deserve.

Democrat Colleen Condon says her specific goal is...

  • "to plan for the future while being responsible for the dollars we're spending today."
Post and Courier October 14, 2008

Mark's response:

  • Having a $7.8 million dollar shortfall in the 2010 budget isn't responsible. At the rate Colleen and her fellow Democrats are spending, there won't be any monies available for the future generations to consider spending. To be fiscally responsible once and for all, let's cut spending on Council and save tax payer's money so we truly can plan for the future.
